BCBGeneration Charlie Large Convertible Flap

17 Mar

I am LOVING the structured bags shown on the Fall 2011 runway with Lanvin.  The structured shape, neutral colors, beautiful textures, and exotic skins of the bags are absolutely drool-worthy.  The bags are beautiful, classic, and ladylike, but also bold and statement-making.

This structured bag from BCBGeneration, is absolutely gorgeous.  I love the angled envelope-like flap closure with the golden hardware.  This bag is cute enough to make any blah outfit, chic.  It’ll also complement dressed up occasions, such as going from work to dinner and drinks.  What’s amazing is that this bag can be worn at least three different ways: cross-body (strap lengthened), as a standard shoulder bag (strap shortened), or as a handbag (the handle).  Gray is also a great color for a convertible bag like this, since it can be made to match any outfit.  This cute bag is also easy on the wallet too.  While Lanvin’s bags will no doubt hit the quadruple digits, this bag is only $66.  The chic structured look, the hardware, the color, the convertible functions, and the price point absolutely makes this bag a winner.

Lanvin Sunglasses

9 Feb

Spring seems to be arriving earlier and earlier.  With that comes clearer skies and some major sunlight.  I believe in protecting my eyes from harmful UV rays, as well as feeling comfortable when I walk outside.  Squinting in the sun will definitely not help me prevent wrinkles from forming around my eyes!  I’ve been hoping to buy some new sunglasses lately, since my current ones are either scratched up or broken.  Luckily, there are some great deals on sunglasses available!

For those who missed out on “affordable” Lanvin for H&M, here’s a chance to snag some REAL Lanvin on the cheap!  This pair, originally $325, now $74.75.  Lanvin sunglasses start at $67.62.

Other sunglasses are on sale too!  Top choices are Ray Ban, Marc Jacobs, Oakley, and more at 6pm.com.

Cyber Monday Ordeal

2 Dec

What an ordeal Cyber Monday 11/29/2010 was!  Everyone (okay maybe DSW/Gucci fanatics, like me for example)  knew that the 25% off one-day only Cyber Monday coupon for DSW was coming…  They had the same deal last year.  And everyone (me) had been eying those delicious Gucci Blankets available originally for $199, and then marked down to $99 just before Cyber Monday.  Everyone (me again) was set.  The code was released.  And then BAM!  The DSW website crashed.  It was down all day, throughout the day.  Their phone lines were a pre-recorded message that welcomed you, apologized, and quickly hung up.  When I checked the website in the evening again, things were still glitchy but it seemed as if I could access some of the pages.  I quickly proceeded to find the Gucci blankets…  Only to find that the Gucci Blankets were ALL SOLD OUT.  I seriously didn’t understand how ANYONE got through with their order, online or on the phone.  A little birdie told me they had thousands just a few days prior!  One sad and disappointed email to DSW later, I gave up my hunt and went on with my day.

But I’m a persistent one.  And a shopaholic.  And a deal finder.  So imagine my bittersweet  joy when I discovered that DSW had re-released the Gucci Blankets!  Apparently, these very blankets had crashed the website, so they had to mark them out of stock in order to get their website back up to sell shoes.  I was happy that they were back, but sad that the Cyber Monday deal had already ended.  But through a little research at the very handy slickdeals website, I was able to find a code for 25% off: C25P4326 (no longer available as of 12/2, but if you call DSW to order and say you were unable to get the Cyber Monday deal using the Cyber25 code, they may honor it). I’m not sure when the code expires, but I’m going to assume very soon.  And don’t forget, Discover Card is currently offering 10% cashback for DSW when you go through their website link.

Oxford Flats: 1 Year Later

29 Nov

This is a follow-up review of Steve Madden’s Tuxxedo Oxford shoes that I bought last year.  After a whole year, they are still my go-to casual shoe and I wear them daily.  In fact, “wear” is an understatement – I live in them – I still walk to work in them every few days out of the week! For those of you who have yet to own a pair, or if you need some new ideas on styling, here are some tips on making the most out of your Oxfords:

1. Go for wingtips.
Why?  They look smart, and give even a solid-colored shoe lots of character.

2. Stick with the Classics.
To me, this is how a classic Oxford shoe looks like:

Why the classic style rocks:

a) they’re comfy
b) they’re surprisingly warm for when it’s cold outside
c) it’s got laces and a bill!

I mean, you can have girly flats in any number of styles, so it’s actually a novelty to wear dress shoes with laces and bill.  Pictured above is the Tuxxedo flat and to right is J. Crew’s version with heels:

3. Be casual, er, yourself.
Oxfords can complete almost any look, so you don’t need to give it much thought.  I do, however, strongly advise you to pair them with skinny/straight-legged jeans or tights.
I like to take cues from Katie Holmes (or is it Cruise now?): Of course, you can also go girly like  Taylor Swift:

Regardless of your aesthetic, you need to buy yourself a pair if you don’t already own a pair.  STAT.
